Stock Market Today Wednesday 16 April 2025 | Today, the stock market saw a flat opening. The market opened with slight gains and then started trading in the red. The Sensex opened 262 points higher at 76,996. The Nifty opened 16 points stronger at 23,344. The Bank Nifty opened 311 points higher at 52,690. The rupee opened 0.22% stronger at 85.58/$.
Speaking of sectoral indices, there is an upward trend in the PSU banks and realty sectors, while the IT, metal, and pharma sectors are facing selling pressure.
America is ready for trade deals
A new twist has emerged in the trade war between America and China at the international level. U.S. President Donald Trump has indicated that America is ready for a trade deal, but China must take the initiative. Meanwhile, agreement has been reached on the terms of the first phase of the trade deal between India and America, and efforts are ongoing to complete the agreement by the end of the year.

After two days of gains in the American stock markets, profit-taking was observed. The Dow closed down by 155 points, while the Nasdaq lost 150 points and closed just 8 points lower. The GIFT Nifty is also trading around 23,275 with a decline of 50 points. Meanwhile, Dow futures are also showing a weakness of 125 points. In the Asian markets, the Nikkei weakened by 150 points.
