Stock Market Today Tuesday 22 April 2025 | Today the stock market saw a strong opening for the sixth consecutive day. The Sensex opened up 320 points at 79,728. The Nifty opened strong, gaining 60 points to reach 24,185.
The Bank Nifty opened 110 points higher at 55,414. The rupee fell by 0.032 points to open at 85.16/$. In early trading, there was a rise in the Nifty metal and pharma indexes. However, as the market opened, the Nifty IT index appeared to be trading lower.
Decline in the American market
The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed down nearly 1000 points, marking the fourth consecutive day of decline. Meanwhile, the tech-heavy Nasdaq registered a significant drop of 400 points.
This tense atmosphere also affected global markets. The GIFT Nifty fell by 50 points to around 24,100, while Dow futures showed slight relief, rising by 150 points. The Japanese Nikkei slipped down by 100 points.
