Today is proving to be Black Monday for the market. Both Sensex and Nifty witnessed a decline of around 5 percent. Nifty dropped to the level of 21,800 with a fall of 1,100 points. Meanwhile, Sensex hovered around 71,900 with a decline of over 3,300 points. The Bank Nifty experienced a decline of approximately 2,000 points. The Nifty Midcap 100 index was trading around 47,249 with a drop of 3,400 points.
Compared to the previous closing, the opening numbers saw the Sensex opening at 71,449, down 3,915 points. The Nifty opened at 21,758, down 1,146 points. The Bank Nifty opened at 49,336, down 2,166 points, and the rupee opened weaker by 50 paise at 85.74/$.
