Mumbai News, 26 February 2026: Today, Thursday, there has been a big drop in gold prices in India. After six continuous days of increase, gold rates have fallen significantly for the first time today. On a national level, the price of 24-carat gold is Rs 1,61,680 per 10 grams, 22-carat is Rs 1,48,200 and 18-carat is Rs 1,21,260. This is the first major drop in the past eight days.
Experts say this fall has happened due to weakness in the international market, the strength of the dollar and a slight change in the rupee.
Rates are almost the same in Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Pune, while in Chennai they are slightly higher due to local reasons. Detailed rates by city (for 10 grams) are given below. (Note: These rates may vary slightly depending on jewellers and local tax/making charges)

According to market analysts, gold had risen by 26,000 rupees per 100 grams over the past three days. Today’s decline is due to profit booking and global uncertainty. Investors are advised to be cautious and check the latest rates from local jewellers before buying gold.
